My then wife Becky and I and my parents Giff and Connie Beaton took a two week trip to Tanzania from 10-21 Jan 2005. On this page is some general information on this trip, and at the right of the page are links to pages of photos of mammals, birds and other nature shots from this trip.

Our trip was organized by Wildersun Safaris, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They were wonderful, and handled every last detail. This Toyota Land Cruiser was our vehicle for the whole trip, and was great for viewing and for photography. Note the raised roof, many of the other companies offer similar vehicles but without the roof, so you get to broil in the sun all day long. The man standing on the right is Yuda, our driver and guide, who was superb. His eyesight was just beyond amazing...

Our itinerary was designed by Ed Harper, who runs tours to Tanzania through his company Sandpiper Journeys. We went to:
Tarangire National Park (Tarangire Safari Lodge) 10-12 Jan
Lake Manyara National Park (Lake Manyara Serena Lodge) 12-13 Jan
Ngorongoro Crater (Ngorongoro Serena Lodge) 13-15 Jan
Ndutu (Ndutu Safari Lodge) 15-19 Jan
Serengeti National Park (Serengeti Sopa Lodge) 19-21 Jan
