= New photos, last 60 daysThis is a page of Tiger Beetles of Eastern North America, which I have been pursuing and photographing for about 25 years now. Most of the species that occur in this region are represented here, with thanks to the many people that have helped me find different species or been along in the field. Chief among them are Mike Thomas, Steve Krotzer, Dirk Stevenson and the late Skip Choate. I have enjoyed many wonderful days in the field or trips with these gentlemen over the years. Many experts have also helped via correspondence or other means, and their help is gratefully acknowledged (alphabetically): Dave Brzoska, Dan Duran, Ron Huber, and Barry Knisley. I got info for specific sites from many others, thanks to all of you! Also for out of state help: Joey Holmes in SC, Lyn Atherton in FL, Greg Lasley in TX, Judy Semroc in OH and Stephen Cresswell in WV. The species are listed in taxonomic order, recently revised yet again.
Note: It is difficult to get an appreciation for the variation between members of the same species from guides which only have one or two images per species, so I have tried to illustrate examples of extremes for many of the species below.
A recent article has elevated many subgenera and added a couple of new genera, so look for revised taxonomy in the months ahead as this article gets published and reviewed... This site is being published in March 2020, and many of the pages have been brought over from my old site but are not yet cleaned up from transcription issue... please be patient with me!
